Jonathan Duhon

Jonathan Duhon is the author of the LoveUSS Framework: the claim that understanding, support, and security are not three features of good relationships but the single lens through which people experience everything that happens between them.

He is the founder of LoveUSS, which is that framework put to work on the relationships someone is actually in, and he writes every teaching page on this site. He is also the founder and lead consultant of Pensy Group, a communication and management consultancy working with executives, managers and leaders.

The claim

Most relationship advice is written per room — one book for marriage, another for parenting, another for the workplace — as though a person changes species when they walk through a different door. The framework says they do not. In every close relationship, a human being is asking the same three questions: Do you see me? Are you for me? Am I safe with you?

And the three do not add. They multiply. Understanding times support times security equals love, and a zero anywhere is a zero everywhere. That single move is what the framework is for, because it explains the thing people cannot explain about their own lives: how a relationship can be full of obvious care and still feel empty. Somebody is supplying two Perspectives generously and the third not at all, and the missing one is setting the product to zero.

The terms he named

The framework has its own vocabulary, and the terms are his: the Multiplication Law, that a zero in any Perspective zeroes the whole; the Awareness, the scan everyone already runs unconsciously on themselves, made deliberate and turned around to read the other person; the Recording Law, that what is said to a child is not heard once but recorded, and becomes the voice they use on themselves; the Listener’s Law, that if honesty is expensive with you, you will be handed "fine" and "nothing"; and the counterfeits — the Flame, the Witness, the Caretaker — the convincing substitute each missing Perspective mints in its place.

They are named because a thing you can name is a thing you can look for. Somebody who has the word "counterfeit" available can catch intensity being sold to them as security, which is the whole point of having a lens at all.

Where to read the whole thing

The framework is free, complete, and public. The LoveUSS Framework page teaches all of it — the three Perspectives, the Multiplication Law, the counterfeits, the Awareness — with nothing held back for a paywall. From there it is applied room by room: loving a partner, loving your children and teenagers, loving your friends. The FAQ answers the questions people arrive with.

What LoveUSS sells is not the teaching. It is the reading of your own situation — which Perspective is at zero with the specific person you named, and the one move that would change it.

The other room he works in

Outside LoveUSS, he runs Pensy Group, a communication and management consultancy working with executives, managers and leaders, and he is the author of a second framework — JOIN — about the transaction underneath every interaction.

That is not a detour from this one. The framework already holds that a workplace pretends only labor is traded while every meeting answers the same three questions anyway; a person does not become a different species when they walk through an office door. The rooms change. The questions do not.

What he is not

He is not a therapist, a counselor, or a clinician, and the framework is not therapy, medical advice, or a diagnosis of anyone. It is a lens for reading relationships and a practice for acting on what you see. Where the two overlap, the professional wins: someone in crisis, in danger, or in need of care needs a human being who can help, not a framework and not an app.

That limit is stated on every page here on purpose. A lens that claimed to be treatment would be worth less, not more.

Who is Jonathan Duhon?

Jonathan Duhon is the author of the LoveUSS Framework and the founder of LoveUSS. The framework holds that understanding, support, and security are the single lens through which people experience every close relationship, and that they multiply rather than add — so a zero in any one of them is a zero everywhere. He is also the founder and lead consultant of Pensy Group, a communication and management consultancy, and the author of a second framework, JOIN, about the transaction underneath every interaction. He writes the teaching pages on this site.

Is Jonathan Duhon a therapist?

No. He is not a therapist, counselor, or clinician, and the LoveUSS Framework is not therapy, medical advice, or diagnosis. It is a way of reading relationships and acting on what you see. Anyone in crisis or in danger should talk to a person who can help — in the US, call or text 988, or find a local line at findahelpline.com.

Where can I read the LoveUSS Framework?

The whole framework is free to read on The LoveUSS Framework page, with dedicated guides applying it to partners, children and teenagers, and friends. Nothing in the teaching is behind a paywall.
